Established in 1966, the Scoliosis Research Society stands as one of the most prominent spine societies in the world. Bringing together more than 1,000 leading experts in the field of spinal deformity, SRS promotes spinal deformity research and education in addition to supporting outreach and advocacy initiatives such as National Scoliosis Awareness Month.
Each June, scoliosis patients, physicians, and institutions unite to promote scoliosis education and early detection. Throughout the month, individuals and organizations collaborate to raise awareness through informational campaigns and community events, advocating for quality patient care and protection. The Scoliosis Research Society contributes to these efforts in a variety of ways, including organizing a letter-writing campaign to U.S. governors. The organization has invited scoliosis advocates, patients, and family members to join it in requesting that every state offer its support to those living with spinal deformities by adopting and observing National Scoliosis Awareness Month.
